Breathing, Sleeping (and Maybe Blogging) Again

It’s been quite a year so far, filled with both great sadness in our extended families and with tremendous joy. Throughout it all God has not changed and His mercies have indeed been new every morning.

This past weekend we were able to experience the happy side of things as we celebrated Kara and Collin’s marriage. What a beautiful day it was, from start to finish, and God’s kindnesses to them were evident throughout. We are so thankful to the Lord for giving them to one another, and it was such a joy to see their love for one another shine. Our church family was amazing, helping us do everything from making our box of a church into a beautiful place to helping us set up and serve over 250 people at the pig roast. We heard lots of great comments about the friendliness of our church and the awesome music the band played. I’ve heard that pictures will be posted online after the newlyweds return from their honeymoon. I’ll let you know if that does happen.

For now, the dust is settling at Pleasant Hill Farm. Just before the wedding we had strep and hand, foot, and mouth disease running through our family. Thankfully we were all (mostly) well on Sat., but now I have two down with fevers again. But after much the weightier things that have transpired this year, routine illness seems like a very easy and familiar kind of difficulty. With no more wedding preparations, now my summer is returning to the usual lesson planning, 4-H, and deeper housecleaning. And now that I am breathing and sleeping again, I may even have time to write the occasional post! Happy summer to all of you!

Here's the Psalm my dearest one used to bless Collin and Kara at the end of the wedding:

Psalm 128

How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.
When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine within your house, your children like olive plants around your table.
Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord.
The Lord bless you from Zion, and may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
Indeed, may you see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel!

Dear Anne,
What a blessing! It is joy to you, I know, to see a child marry a fellow believer.
Psalm 128 was the psalter reading we chose for our wedding, too. You know the Lord has fulfilled it in our lives with many children, and now grandchildren, too. We pray the same for Kara and Collin.
Love,
Jill

Anne, this is completely off topic, but I couldn't find your email address.

Shawna and I only vaguely remember what book you use for teaching reading. Can you give me the name and author?

Thanks,
Eric
