The Lifter of My Head

Tim and I usually touch base at noon with a phone call. The other day he noticed I was discouraged, not from my words, but my tone of voice. On closing, my dearest one said, “Anne, don’t walk around with your head down.” It was just the right thing to say because Tim’s words reminded me of this verse from Psalm 3, which I know as a song:

But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. (Psalm 3:3)

Don’t you just love that? David’s situation was totally different from mine – he was fleeing from his own son, Absalom. Yet David needed to trust in God, just like I need to, and he needed to be reminded that the Lord is his shield, his glory, and the lifter of his head. Exactly what I need to remember as well.
