Sunflower collage

This summer we painted our half bath pale green, but something's just not been right since then. (Yes, it looks grey in the photo, but it is really a green.) I'm thinking some beadboard on the lower half on the walls will do the trick, but that upgrade is on hold for a few months until Tim hits his slower season.

So Amanda gave this little room some pizzazz by creating this lovely collage:

That's very beautiful... but it's not purple! Are you sure Amanda made it?

I know! But look closely and you'll see several little purplish chicory plants near the bottom. That's to tie in to the lavender that's already there without totally overwhelming the room with purple. :)

What is this beautiful collage made of?

Mostly she used tissue paper from an Eric Carle Klutz book (*You Can Make a Collage*) that she's had for years. She also painted her own designs for some additional colors/designs. Sometimes she paints lightly over some areas too, as on the stems, to give it a different look.

This Klutz book is great, because Eric Carle's papers are so beautiful, it's hard to go wrong.

I dreamed last night that you painted your kitchen walls dark purple. It was a really beautiful purple (kind of like this dining room: http://goo.gl/3gv6oL), but it was entirely overwhelming in the kitchen. In my dream, I walked in while you were painting and was too stunned to say much. Amanda was supervising the painting with pride and approval.
