Fun Poetry: The Goops

Gelett Burgess, best-known for his "Purple Cow" poem, wrote a whole series of poems about the ill-mannered, bald Goops. My kids get a kick out of reading the antics of these naughty creatures, and maybe they learn a thing or two about how not to behave. Table Manners, above, is a good one to memorize.  Dover has re-published a couple of Mr. Burgess's books designed to teach good manners to children over a century ago, and you can also find them at Project Gutenberg.
