Diligently teach them to your children... and to your dog?
Last night Tim was reading a complicated portion of Malachi for family devotions. Noticing the dull looks on the children’s faces, he asked, “How many of you glazed over during that section?” Seven hands went into the air. (Yes, one was mine.) Then our 95 pound black lab, who certainly considers herself just one of the kids, rolled over on her back and stuck her paw up in the air. Guess she needed it explained a bit further as well.
Seriously though, I love watching Tim teach our children, whether it is during a designated time of instruction such as family devotions or following a squabble between two children or just in natural conversation throughout the course of daily life. His wisdom and insight, combined with his knowledge and deep love for scripture and his children, make him an awesome father.
Deut. 6: 6,7 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (KJV)
