While I had been with several of the boys at the dentist that afternoon, my girls had baked a cake, carefully washing up all the mess so I had no hint such a thing had happened. They crowned me with a grapevine wreath then gave me gifts including a potted cut-leaf toothwort, a snail's shell, and parts of a turtle's shell. (The latter were from my youngest.) Nothing, though, compared with the gift of watching my kids play in the woods, enjoying one another and the world God has created.
