It's Just So Confusing!

Ben knows he is a boy, but beyond that his gender identifications are pretty dicey. When I do something he particularly likes he sometimes says to me, “Good boy!” And his standard response when I ask him to do something is, “Yes, sir.”

A few days ago I decided to correct him on the latter. I told him that when he was talking to Mommy he should say, “Yes, Ma’am.” Eager to please, Ben answered, “Yes, sir, man.”

He’s reverted to his original, “Yes, sir,” which is just fine with me for now.
