Another Thing You Aren't Likely to Find Girls Doing...

…is shooting bows and arrows in their bedroom. A few years ago my middle boys got this bright idea, which as you might imagine, wasn’t too great for the wall. Since we didn’t have time to fix things properly then, we just moved their bunkbed to that wall, hiding the gouges for the time. We’ve finally gotten around to renovating their room - patching the drywall, painting, and replacing the carpet with laminate. After we’d emptied the room, guess what we found in the closet? Another bull’s-eye, this one drawn on, and thankfully, with no arrow holes. Neither current resident of the room owns up to making that target, so perhaps it was Andrew’s. It seems that for the males in my family there is just something irresistible about doing archery in one’s bedroom. Ask Tim sometime about shooting out our window into the back cornfield.

The Johnson boys LOVE that story. I think at one point it was like this. "Well Mom, if an elder can do that...." However, we have yet to have the airguns go off in the house and our only bows and arrows are home made and usually shot at rotted pumpkins or other inanimate objects OUTSIDE. I must say, the children in your home are quite creative! hee hee

I find boys to be generally more destructive or 'hands on'. :) Hands on everything!

Agreed!

And Kim - I think you might be mixing up stories. Last December we did have an in-the-house airgun incident which resulted in a broken window, but the culprit was a much younger fellow. When Tim shoots arrows out our bedroom window he actually opens the window first!

No, I knew the airgun was a younger member. I was just remembering both stories. Their claim was that if Elder WEgener coudl shoot arrows from the window they should be able to do something similar
