The Earth is Satisfied With the Fruit of His Works

Too tired to smile

Psalm 104: 13, 14

He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works. He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the labor of man, So that he may bring forth food from the earth,

Isn’t that great? For the cattle he causes grass to grow, but we are fed by the labor of our hands with vegetation that He makes grow. Most of our family’s food is a result of the hard work of my dear husband, for which I am very thankful. Since Tim is self-employed, his work quantity varies from month to month, causing us to continually recognize our utter dependence on Him to provide “vegetation” in the form of building projects and customers.

Still, the kids and I are having a great time this summer working outside to bring to fruit a small fraction of our daily food. We’ve been harvesting spinach, pea pods, and broccoli (yum!), plus lots of herbs. Since we just replaced our strawberry plants with new ones this year, yesterday we visited a pick-your-own patch to stock up on berries. Our blueberries have just started to ripen, but it will be a week or two before we have any significant harvest. Hopefully we can keep Ben and Dan (one of our old labs) from eating them all up. Neither is very discriminating and will even eat green berries.
