" You'll look sweet, upon the seat..."

This afternoon I slipped out for an awesome bike ride between preparing for our small group and sending our oldest two back to Purdue. My friend, Beth, has taught me how much fun it is to “Whoop” while riding down serious hills, and today, with the sun shining, was a day for whooping. For the most part my rides have been shorter and fewer since the weather turned cool and wet, though I think there is something to be said for experiencing the outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions to more fully appreciate God’s amazing power as seen in His creation.

Still, I’m eagerly anticipating warmer weather and longer regular rides. Even more, I’m looking forward to having a husband well enough to ride with me.

Since biking is my chief recreation, I was thrilled to recently run across a wonderfully wise essay by Noel Piper about tandem bike riding and marriage. Mrs. Piper has been married for 36 years to John Piper, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis and author of numerous books, including Desiring God. Actually it's a howl. Anne has a little trouble with definitions. She doesn't know a howl from a whoop. And she doesn't know the meaning of UPHILL. B

LOL! I guess we will have to argue about whether it is a whoop or a howl on our next ride, which I hope will be soon.
